I would like to ask . what happens if we increase the number of processes in standard manager?
I would strongly advice all Oracle Developers to try their best to acquire Oracle Administration skills as well..you should not spend all day writing pl-sql :)

in my view they should be only one Job Title:
"Oracle Specialist" or "Oracle Expert"

Right; family migrated from Ghana to neighboring Togo many many years ago.
Re learning Java Web apps development, all you need is a computer connected to the internet then go seriously through the tons of tutorials and code samples out there; you can start with the Oracle Technoloy Network.

Good Luck

Aw, this was a really quality post. In theory I'd like to write like this too - taking time and real effort to make a good article... but what can I say... I procrastinate alot and never seem to get something done.

I just wanted to mention that flushing the session (that is the first level cache) might not be enough when performing direct jdbc updates : it won't flush your second level cache and there will a be some mismatch between the orm and the database at least until the cache expires.
